Yesterday I spent another day birding with Lance Tanino, birding our way along the coastline. We spent several hours at Keauhou Bay doing seawatch. It was pretty cool watching Wedge-tailed Shearwaters going by close enough to see with the naked eye.
We made a stop at the Water Treatment Plant, of course. No birding trip would be complete without standing …around a sewage pond.
We also went to Honokohau National Historic Park where we saw Sea Turtles right on the beach. We also had many waders and other birds very familiar to me. Even Least Terns!! I felt like I was right back in SWFL in my home patch. To make it feel even more like home, we had a downpour and got completely soaked.
I just love birding in the heat.
