Day 51 – Victoria, British Columbia

Posted on

Victory in Victoria! Arrived here at 2 p.m., picked up at the airport by Ann Nightingale (perfect name for a great birder) and immediately started birding at the airport!

I had 4 major targets for BC. Ann had done a lot of scouting before I came and by 5, she had led me to the Eurasian Skylark AND the Redwing!!!! These are huge birds.

There was enough daylight left for us to see over 200 Trumpeter Swans in a flooded ag field nearby. Not a bad afternoon!!

I also added Northwestern Crow, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, and Pacific Wren to bring my total to 417. Plan A is looking good.
